The Archaeological Museum of Povegliano Veronese is located in the 18th-century Villa Balladoro and houses archaeological finds from the Bronze and Iron Ages discovered in the territory of Povegliano Veronese and the surrounding towns. Additionally, Celtic materials and a Longobard tomb are on display.
The first archaeological excavations in Povegliano were conducted between 1876 and 1877 in the Gambaloni area. During that time, a necropolis from the Middle Bronze Age was uncovered, with burials accompanied by grave goods consisting of swords, daggers, and hairpins, which are currently preserved at the National Museum Pigorini in Rome. A few years later, groups of burials from the Late Iron Age were found in the Campi Magri della Bora area and in the Madonna dell’Uva Secca area.
These two prehistoric ages are well documented in the showcases that currently occupy three rooms on the ground floor of Villa Balladoro: the Bronze Age features finds that cover the entire chronological span, and the Iron Age pertains to the final period.
