At Villa Balladoro, an elegant eighteenth-century residence in the heart of Povegliano Veronese, are located the Archaeological Museum and the Historical Library.
The Archaeological Museum offers a fascinating journey through time, displaying Bronze and Iron Age artifacts discovered in the territory of Povegliano Veronese. Among its collections are Celtic materials and a rare Lombard tomb. The first archaeological excavations in the area, carried out between 1876 and 1877, brought to light a Middle Bronze Age necropolis with inhumations accompanied by sets of swords, daggers, and pins, now preserved at the National Prehistoric and Ethnographic Museum “Luigi Pigorini” in Rome. In the following years, groups of Late Iron Age burials were discovered in the localities of Campi Magri della Bora and Madonna dell’Uva Secca. These prehistoric findings are now extensively documented in the three ground-floor rooms of Villa Balladoro, offering a comprehensive overview of the entire chronological span.
On the ground floor of the villa is also the Historical Library, a precious treasure of culture housing 10,728 volumes and the Balladoro Family Archive, consisting of 74 folders (for a total of 911 files or proceedings) and 149 registers, safeguarding centuries of local memory.
