The origin of "trombini" is very ancient. Evolving from weapons of the 1600s used for defensive purposes, the trombini have over the years become folk instruments used for celebratory purposes, in commemorations or village festivals.
The locality of San Bortolo has remained one of the few centers in Lessinia that keeps the tradition of trombini firing alive, making them a true attraction in its museum that houses ancient decorated and carved historical specimens as well as interesting projections and videos of the firings.
Exhibiting such a particular firearm to the public in a museum, now a festive tool, reminds us that the trombino is still an essential instrument for accompanying the extraordinary moments of a community throughout the year.
