The Arcole Obelisk is the only remaining trophy in Italy among the many erected in honor of Napoleon. Its construction is part of the propaganda action carried out by Napoleon, even in Italy, starting in 1802, when he was elected President of the Cisalpine Republic and the birth of the Italian Republic was proclaimed.
It is an obelisk made of blocks of red Verona marble, topped with a globe on which an eagle rests.
The official inauguration took place on November 1st, 1810.
