The Pontoncello Park is a protected area and has become a regional park of local interest in recent years. It is a natural oasis along the Adige River, covering an area of 530 thousand square meters of protected land, forming a triangle between Giaron (San Martino Buon Albergo), Ausetto (San Giovanni Lupatoto), and Pontoncello (Zevio), from which it takes its name.
It is mainly a floodplain area that has remained available to the river, shaped by nature according to its rhythms.
You can encounter mammals such as hedgehogs and moles, hares or foxes, and weasels, but especially many dozens of species of birds including migratory or resident species, nesting or wintering.
Of equally high value is the floral component, both arboreal, mainly willow and black poplar, and shrub, (elder and ivy), as well as herbaceous, including artemisia, starwort, and nettle.
