A succession of pastures, hills, mountains, and canyons combined with an immeasurable number of archaeological, prehistoric, historical, and cultural sites, along with a unique natural beauty in the world in terms of origin and shape. This vast area of invaluable natural value, covering about 10,000 hectares, was established as a regional park in 1990.
The park features flora and fauna typical of the pre-Alpine areas of Northern Italy. You can admire beech forests, oaks, chestnuts, firs, and also mountain pines and rhododendrons. Among the flowers, the wild orchid, Lady's Slipper, proudly takes the role of queen.
Numerous deer, roe deer, chamois, marmots, and foxes can be spotted near the high pastures. And if you look up, you'll often see the golden eagle, peregrine falcon, and the rock partridge soaring in search of prey. Also present are the black grouse, hazel grouse, hawks, and snow buntings. The recent recolonization of the wolf in Lessinia, with the pair Slavc and Giulietta, has reestablished a presence of great naturalistic and scientific interest, regularly monitored.
In Lessinia, there are many ancient natural monuments, some of prehistoric origin and very well preserved. Among these are: Covolo di Camposilvano, Ponte di Veja, and Grotta di Fumane. Other natural jewels include: Valle delle Sfingi, Covoli di Velo, the Foresta dei Folignani, Valòn e Buso del Malera, Corno d'Aquilio, and Spluga della Preta, the Grotta di Monte Capriolo, the Foresta dei Folignani, the Cascate di Molina, and the dinosaur footprints on Bella Lasta.
