Excursion to Cima Carega and the Fraccaroli Refuge
For this excursion, you reach the village of Giazza in the Verona region by car and drive up to the Revolto refuge, parking at an altitude of 1336 meters above sea level.
From here, you ascend several staircases through the woods along the CAI 186 trail until you reach the Pertica Pass refuge, located at the same altitude in the 1573 meters above sea level. You then continue along a comfortable mule path, trail 109, which, without ever having steep slopes, leads to the Scalorbi refuge at 1776 meters above sea level. From the refuge, there are now two trails, 109 and 192, that lead to Bocchetta Mosca at 2029 meters above sea level.
The final stretch of the trail becomes steeper, though it never reaches high gradients. As you climb, the vegetation thins until it completely disappears above 2000 meters.
From Bocchetta Mosca, it's not far, and you quickly reach first the Mario Fraccaroli refuge at 2238 meters above sea level and then the summit cross located at the top of Mount Carega at 2259 meters.
For the return, you proceed along the same route taken on the way up.
- Travel time: approximately 4 hours
- Elevation gain: 900 meters
- Departure: Revolto Refuge (1336 meters)
