Ponte Tibetano

We note that path no. 5 of the Tibetan Bridge and paths no. 3 and no. 4 in the Valsorda area are trails for experienced hikers. The use of mountain boots is necessary. They are strongly discouraged in case of bad weather.

IMPORTANT: The routes to and around the Tibetan bridge should be considered as mountain terrain and must be approached accordingly, with proper equipment, awareness, and preparation, never abandoning the marked path. It is recommended to maintain a cautious behavior. . 

Path no. 5, called the "Tibetan path," is a circular route that, starting from Malga Biancari (m 592 a.s.l.) reaches the locality of Mulino del Cao (m 308 a.s.l.) to return to the starting point after about 5.7 km. After 1.6 km, it is necessary to cross the Tibetan bridge, which offers a spectacular view of Val Sorda; it is a structure open to the public and therefore accessible at any time with free entry.

To reach the Malga by car or on foot, the route is simple: as soon as you pass the hamlet of San Rocco di Marano di Valpolicella, there are some signs on the left that lead to the locality of Girotto. Here, in addition to the malga, there is also a large parking area from where you can start your exciting walk among the beauties of Valpolicella and Lessinia.

The Tibetan bridge, a classic engineering work suspended by cables between opposite banks, is the first of its kind in Veneto and also one of the rarities in our country, connecting the hiking systems of Marano di Valpolicella with that of Sant'Anna d'Alfaedo. It has a maximum height above the underlying ravine of 40 meters and is 52 meters long with a width of 70 centimeters; the handrail at 120 centimeters allows for the simultaneous passage of two people crossing each other. This structure is supported by four cables, each formed by a catenary of four steel wires with a diameter of 22 millimeters each.
