Two houses and two taverns! Four humble rustic buildings that formed the hamlet of "Cà del Diaolo".
There are a thousand versions of the origin of this name, which is lost in the depths of the Middle Ages. The fact is that the particular strategic position at the crossroads of two valleys made it a mandatory stopping place for carters and traders, a place of business, of "goti", of quarrels, vendettas, and blasphemies... From this tumult of almost daily life, tradition attributes the origin of this name, and so the story goes... It seems that on a day of particular euphoria, some excited patrons of the old tavern were playing in the nearby bowling green, which then existed, when from a trivial argument related to some irregularities in the game, an animated discussion broke out from which the worst nastiness emerged. These episodes were frequent, but that day it is said that at that very moment a funeral procession for a child was passing by, and since the avid players showed no respect for that poor lifeless body, the old priest, outraged, cursed that place and decreed that it should forever be called "Ca' del Diaolo," meaning house of the devil.
This is the story that is told regarding the origins of the name of this locality, which has always evoked great curiosity, hence the name of the street and subsequently also the name of the Restaurant managed by the Marana family for four generations!
