The Scaligera Tower of Isola della Scala was built by the namesake Lords of Verona in the mid 14th century to guard a main road connecting Verona to the enemy Mantova.
Located to guard the crossing on the Tartaro river, it is the only one surviving from many others that formed the Scaligero enclosure.
It consists of the actual tower, where the guard corps resided, and the ravelin equipped with two drawbridges.
It is situated at the entrance of the town for those coming from Trevenzuolo, Vigasio, Erbè. It is not accessible internally.
