A charming path that immerses us in the medieval atmosphere of the Scaligero Castle, from which one can enjoy splendid panoramic views of the hills and vineyards.
The climb to Monte Tenda is characterized by the presence of hackberry trees, field maples, black locusts, and hornbeams, as well as beautiful dry stone walls that reflect the rural tradition of these lands. Furthermore, cypress trees and typical spontaneous shrub and tree vegetation alternate with vineyards, shaping and coloring these splendid Veronese hills.
Among the points of interest along the path, the following are noteworthy:
- The discovery of some plates and fragments of prehistoric elephant bones found near the Capitello di Cengelle in 1934;
- Piazza Scheeti, characterized by a suggestive geological phenomenon, namely the presence of nummulites, which are discoid-shaped fossils in the rocky substrate. Due to their shape, they are called “scheeti” in Veneto, meaning small coins.
