Villa Canossa is an important 18th-century historic complex located in the eastern part of the Grezzano district, in the municipality of Mozzecane, in the province of Verona.
Built between 1769 and 1776 at the behest of Marquis Carlo di Canossa, based on a design by Veronese architect Adriano Cristofali, the villa presents itself as a sumptuous architecture of great breadth, expressing the grandeur and elegance of 18th-century Veneto. The complex includes the main palace and numerous rustic buildings, a testament to its agricultural and social function in the past and the life of the sharecroppers who worked there. Historically, Villa Canossa was also a reference point for the Veronese and Mantuan nobility, with extensive wooded areas and cultivated lands that made it a productive and recreational center, a destination for hunting trips and aristocratic gatherings.
Today the villa is not open to the public and is in a state of partial disuse, though it remains an integral part of the historical and landscape identity of the local community. However, the complex retains a high cultural, architectural, and territorial value.
