Villa Canossa is an important 17th-century historical complex located in the eastern part of the hamlet of Grezzano, in the municipality of Mozzecane, in the province of Verona.
Built between 1769 and 1776 at the behest of Marquis Carlo di Canossa, based on a design by the Veronese architect Adriano Cristofali, the villa presents itself as a sumptuous architecture of broad expanse, an expression of the grandeur and elegance of the 18th century in Veneto. The complex includes the main palace and numerous rustic buildings, a testament to its agricultural and social function in the past and the life of the tenant farmers who worked there. Historically, Villa Canossa was also a landmark for the Veronese and Mantuan nobility, with extensive wooded areas and cultivated lands that made it a productive and recreational center, a destination for hunting trips and aristocratic meetings.
Today the villa is not open to the public and is in a state of partial disuse, although it remains an integral part of the historical and landscape identity of the local community. The complex thus retains a high cultural, architectural, and territorial value.
