In an era marked by climate crises, economic precariousness, global instability, and growing eco-anxiety, the desire to become parents clashes with the fear of a fragile future, difficult to imagine and even more complex to convey. The show addresses this conflict with sincerity and emotional depth, transforming doubts, confessions, and bursts of life into shared stage material.
Dramaturgy, live electronic music, and images intertwine in a single performative device. Word and sound do not coexist as separate levels but seek each other, interrupt, and amplify one another. The voice carries thoughts, confessions, and tensions; the music brings rhythm, breath, falls, and new beginnings. Synths, loops, and samples are generated live on stage, building a sound environment that measures the emotional pressure of the stories, opens and closes narrative frames, expands or holds back anticipation. The music does not accompany: it argues, contradicts, supports what is said and what remains unspeakable.
Light, projected onto the performers, becomes an active part of the scenic grammar. It reinforces signs, amplifies details, illuminates minimal gestures — hands playing, micro-actions, transitions — making visible the sonic material that traverses the stage. Voice, live electronics, and video mapping thus compose a shared score that holds together content, perception, and movement.
Dad or Alive gives voice to a collective question: how do we grow and how do we help someone grow while the world changes before our eyes? Between irony and unease, between desire and fear, the show creates a space to imagine the possibility of a future, even when the future seems to slip away. It is an intimate and political investigation that speaks to those who today ask not only “do I want a child?”, but above all “what kind of world will they live in?”.
