Guided tour to the Miniscalchi-Erizzo Museum

On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, the female students of ITES Luigi Einaudi propose a special guided tour during the weekend to discover the Miniscalchi-Erizzo Museum.

The Miniscalchi-Erizzo Museum represents a unique testimony of an ancient noble residence transformed into a museum.
The Miniscalchi family, an ancient and noble lineage of Bergamasque origin, lived in Palazzo Miniscalchi continuously for five centuries, until 1977.

After admiring the frescoed facade, the atrium and the grand staircase, the visit continues to the first floor, the noble floor, through fifteen rooms that host an eclectic collection: paintings, Renaissance bronzes, archaeological finds, Russian icons, weapons and armor, sacred art, and a domestic chapel, as well as 18th-century Venetian furnishings, maiolica, porcelain, and ivories.

Don't miss the family library and the reconstructed Wunderkammer, Ludovico Moscardo's Chamber of Wonders with the famous Astrolabe of Verona!

From house to museum: protecting a memory

We trace the history of Palazzo Miniscalchi: a residence transformed into a museum at the behest of the last heir, Count Mario Miniscalchi-Erizzo.

What does it mean to protect a heritage when the place for which it was created or collected no longer exists as a home? Through the historical environments of the palace, period photographs, and comparisons between domestic past and museum present, the visit will explore what has been preserved, recovered, and transformed.

The rooms thus become the starting point to recount the daily life of those who lived in them and to reflect on how a museum can preserve not only objects but also relationships, contexts, family stories, and the memory of a place.
