After the resounding success of the shows in 2023 and 2025 and his portrayal of Radamés in the 2022 edition of Aida, the German star Jonas Kaufmann (nicknamed “the king of tenors”) returns to the Arena on August 8 for a new event evening, during which he will interpret great characters related to opera, all strictly in staged form.
A completely revamped gala where the famous tenor will bring out the vices and virtues of the characters he portrays, with a distinctive singing style: a virile and dark vocality, with a bronze timbre, that finely modulates high notes, phrasing, and nuances, supported by a magnetic and relaxed acting style.
A German lyric singer, born in Munich on July 10, 1969, he is, after Pavarotti and Placido Domingo, the leading tenor of the early 21st century. After musical studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in his hometown, he began his career in 1994 in various minor German theaters, but the turning point comes in 2006, with La traviata at the Metropolitan in New York, broadcast live in cinemas around the world. Since then, tackling an increasingly vast repertoire, he has been able to convincingly immerse himself among Wagnerian characters, as well as in the German, French, and Italian repertoire.
