After the resounding success of the galas in 2021 and 2023 and his portrayal of Radamés in the 2022 Aida, the German star Jonas Kaufmann (nicknamed “the king of tenors”) returns to the Arena on August 3rd, 2025 for a new event, during which he will play great characters related to the world of opera, all strictly represented on stage.
A night event where the famous tenor will be able to bring to the stage the vices and virtues of the characters he plays, with a distinctive feature in the singing: a virile and dark vocal, of bronze timbre, which modulates with finesse treble, phrasing and streaking, supported by a magnetic and casual recitation.
German opera singer, born in Munich on July 10th, 1969, is after Pavarotti and Placido Domingo the most important tenor of the beginning of the 21st century. After studying music at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in his hometown, he began his career in 1994 in several German minor theatres, but the turning point came in 2006, with La traviata at the Metropolitan in New York, broadcast live in cinemas all over the world. From that moment, facing an ever wider repertoire, he was able to descend with convincing simplicity among the Wagnerian characters, the German, French and Italian repertoire.
