A ring rich in history that takes an hour to walk and is remembered longer, a dive into the historic center of Monteforte d'Alpone.
Starting from Piazza Silvio Venturi, between the stairway of Santa Maria Maggiore, the bell tower which is seventy-one and a half meters tall, the Town Hall, and the fifteenth-century Bishop's Palace.
Next, we enter Rubian, the oldest district of the town. Above the roofs, the hill of Sant'Antonio and the small Church of Sant'Antonio Abate appear: up there stood the castle documented in 1045 from which the name Montefortis derives, meaning fortified mountain.
The most beautiful passage arrives at the Capitello de' Rubian, or San Rocheto: where in front, the hills of Soave Classico covered in rows of vines open up.
The descent meets the Oratory of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, desired by Don Luigi Nardello, a priest from an ancient Monteforte family, and the small church of San Carlo Borromeo, then the path leads back toward the Alpone, to the chapel of San Giovanni Nepomuceno on the restored bridge.
The final stretch leads to the Capitello dei Santi, where via Roma begins and with it the district of Sero, and returns to the square.
