The ancient Church of San Salvatore is located on the hill overlooking the current center of the village and it was part of the old castle that stood in Piazza Castello. It is a typical building of Romanesque style dating back to the 10th century, although over time it has undergone modifications and structural renovations that have partially altered its original harmony.
The facade stands out for its simplicity and the bell tower, that rises with a rectangular plan and characteristic windows.
The interior has a single nave, with a ceiling of wooden trusses. Here, precious frescoes, recently restored, are preserved, and they are attributed to Martino da Verona and Battista da Vicenza, pupils of Pisanello. The oldest part of the building is in the small crypt beneath the upper body, supported by ancient pillars with capitals from the Roman Era. The back of the building is completed by three small apses, one of which is hidden within the remnants of an ancient transept, above which the bell tower rises.
Since 1855, the church of San Salvatore has been a destination for religious pilgrimage every August 5th, to commemorate the end of a terrible plague attributed by local community to the miraculous intervention of "Madonna della Neve" (Our Lady of the Snow).
