The first news regarding the building comes from the pastoral visit of Bishop Barbaro in 1456. At that time, the church of S. Zeno was a chapel subordinate to the parish of S. Maria in Colognola. The original church was demolished in 1765 and rebuilt in its current forms in 1770. The establishment as a parish dates back to April 12, 1920.
Currently, the building features a gable façade in neoclassical style, and the bell tower is adjacent to the western side of the church. The plan is a single rectangular hall with four lateral semi-chapels, a quadrangular presbytery raised by two steps, concluded with a semicircular apse. The internal facades are marked by Ionic pilasters, crowned with a molded entablature and adorned with statues and paintings. The nave is covered by a reed ceiling with a central panel occupied by the fresco of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary created by painters G. Miolato and F. Rigodanzo in 1915-16.
The presbytery is enclosed by a cross vault decorated with angels and polychrome frames; vegetal ornamental motifs characterize the apse.
The flooring of the hall is made of colored concrete tiles; the presbytery is covered with slabs of red Verona marble and white marble. The roof is gabled with wooden supporting structures and tiled with terracotta tiles.
On the neoclassical style façade, four Ionic order pilasters frame the rectangular entrance portal, preceded by a small staircase and topped by a pediment supported by molded corbels. Higher up, a square window illuminates the interior of the building. The pediment is slightly protruding.
