The parish church of St. Lawrence, probably built during the 10th century, but documented from 1029, stood in the village of St. Lawrence, along the road leading to Monteforte d'Alpone.
In 1303 it was rebuilt on the site of the current one, within the defensive walls built by the Scaliger Lords at the end of the 14th century.
Between 1744 and 1758 it was demolished and rebuilt because it had become too cramped, and consecrated by the Bishop of Verona Nicolò Bragadino on November 19, 1758. It was further enlarged in 1884 according to a design by architect Angelo Gottardi.
The building features a gabled façade in neoclassical style, with Ionic columns and a staircase made of red Verona marble.
The plan is in Latin cross shape, with a single nave, baroque altars, and valuable paintings by Domenico Morone, Farinati, Cignaroli, Ugolini, and Mattielli. The most important altarpiece is by Francesco Morone, depicting St. Roch, the Virgin enthroned with the child, St. Joachim, and God in the lunette. Also notable is the statue sculpted by the Venetian Paolo Cahanpsa in 1553, representing the Redeemer.
The ceiling decoration is the work of the Veronese painter Pietro Nalin, representing the glory of St. Lawrence. The large organ from 1889, by George Trice, was restored and returned to its original splendor in 1997.
Of note is the baptismal font from 1430 with sculptures of St. Lawrence in the panels and the heraldic emblem of the town, the monogram JHS, and the mystical tau.
The bell tower, in classical style with triforas, was erected according to a design by Luigi Trezza.
