The itinerary starts from the Abbey of Villanova, a splendid abbey complex built at the end of the 8th century, whose facade is characterized by different historical-artistic periods: Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque.
In a short time, one leaves the inhabited area and finds oneself walking along the banks of the Alpone stream thanks to a pleasant cycling and pedestrian path from which one can enjoy a view that spans the entire plain and find many natural or artificial glimpses on which to set one’s gaze.
Other interesting historical-artistic highlights of the itinerary include: Villa Gritti, an enchanting residence from the 15th century, once home to the noble families that dominated the territory, surrounded by a splendid Italian garden where imposing century-old trees stand out; the Park of Remembrance, a small hill of volcanic origin in the locality of Motta di San Bonifacio where a castle once stood, the ruins of which can still be admired, giving this small place keeper of history a romantic appearance.
