The idea of Villa Il Girasole was conceived by Angelo Invernizzi, a civil engineer, entrepreneur, and innovator of the 1930s. He decided to build a villa for his family that would not only be a home but also a tribute to nature, technology, and beauty. Together with architect Ettore Fagiuoli, he designed a building based on a circular shape, placed on a massive rotating platform that, like the sunflower (in Italian "Girasole"), follows the sun throughout the day, ensuring light and warmth in every room.
Tall as a six-storeys building and clad in aluminum panels that shine in the sun, Villa Il Girasole appears as a futuristic ship docked among the vineyards, with a central bridge and two lateral wings. At its center, the beating heart: a mechanism that can rotate the entire structure around itself in about 9 hours, chasing the light in a slow and imperceptible movement.
In an era when a house symbolizes stability, this villa showcases movement, adaptability, and a symbiosis with nature. It is a philosophy that looks forward, anticipating themes such as sustainability and energy saving.
