Villa Lavagnoli is an eighteenth-century villa surrounded by a large park distinguished by centuries-old magnolias, famous especially for the historical presence of Napoleon Bonaparte, which occurred after the Battle of Arcole in 1796.
The palace is structured in five distinct bodies, among which the central one stands out, topped by a tympanum on which three statues are located. Vigilant over the villa and the entire complex is the marble statue of Hercules equipped with a club.
Once, the palace continued with various rustic adjacencies; in fact, even today, what remains of a long portico is visible. The entrance of the ground floor is particularly defined by the rustic stonework on which the balcony of the central body rests. On the sides, arched windows open framed by valuable outlines with capitals and keystones. On the ground floor, the large windows are topped by protruding frames.
The only interruption to the linearity of the facade is given by the cornice of the central tympanum that extends over the short lateral bodies. The entrance to the villa is also characterized by the presence of two statues placed on pedestals: a commander, Teobaldo Lavagnoli, and a woman with a child, "Mar.Iamdepergis et Ioannes Filuis,” as reported in some inscriptions.
Inside, the salons are striking, elegant, and richly furnished. The central salon on the ground floor is frescoed while the ceiling has decorated wooden beams. The central salon on the upper floor, rich in wall decorations, is characterized by the large finely decorated shell ceiling. The floors are mosaic, and many rooms are embellished with artistic stone fireplaces. Another feature is the depictions of animals.
A characteristic of Villa Lavagnoli is the presence of numerous coats of arms that recall the various properties: originally, the villa belonged to the Lavagnoli family, which held jurisdiction over Caselle di Pressana and San Gregorio, then it was purchased by the Da Mula family, and finally passed to the Dal Covolo family.
