Above Colognola ai Colli stands Villa Peverelli, built on the ancient ruins of a castle. Inserted in the urban fabric of the old village, in a prominent position, it is in close dialogue with the complex of Villa Portalupi, being placed directly in front of it; the square divides the space between these two residences and Villa Spinola.
The construction date could be that of 1662, the year reported on the heraldic shield in the clave of vault, located at the top of the imposing entrance portal with rusticated work that is inserted in the remains of the ancient wall of the fortress crowned with Guelph battlements.
The main building in an 18th-century style features seven frescoed medallions on its façade and a noble coat of arms embedded in the keystone of the opening on the first floor that overlooks the garden in front.
The architectural layout adheres to the rules of classical geometry, with a large entrance door on the ground floor, topped by an arched opening with a slightly projecting balustrade on the noble floor, and a coat of arms at the top. On the sides, large openings face the park-garden, rhythmically equal on the two noble levels, while the service third level is lit by small rectangular windows. An elegant dentil cornice crowns the entire eave on all four facades. On the roof, the large chimneys indicate the presence of significant fireplaces in the spacious noble rooms.
Included in the villa complex are a rustic building located on the right side of the courtyard and a small outbuilding. Internally, within the surrounding wall that protects it, there is an Italian garden, while a leafy centuries-old park envelops it in a notable naturalistic and environmental context.
