The Equivia dei Forti of Verona is an itinerary designed to discover the beauties of the UNESCO World Heritage city from a different perspective, that of the horse, through the slow tourism circuit.
The route completes the existing circuit of the Equivia dei Forti, aimed at exploring the historical and scenic beauties of the city of Verona through slow tourism on horseback.
The new horse trail allows you to explore a hilly landscape characterized by narrow valleys, streams, terraced land with dry-stone walls, and historical-cultural testimonies dating back to the Scaliger era and Austrian domination, reaching the four circular towers located on the Santa Giuliana ridge.
The route, proceeding east from Parona, crosses the San Dionigi hill and the Monte Cavro with the Eremo di San Rocchetto, then the mountain of Villa and the mountain Ongarine, which separate the Quinzano valley from that of Avesa, rich in watercourses such as the Borago and Lorì. It then continues towards Monte Calvo, dominated by the San Mattia fort, and, further south, along the historic walls of the Parco delle Mura, concluding at the Parco delle Colombare.
Following the course of the Adige River within the city, the itinerary finally ends at Corte Molon, the starting point for all the routes of the Equivia dei Forti and a location that provides, even for independent riders, parking for hikers’ vehicles and everything necessary for the care of their animals. The wall and Torricelle route - as is the case for the entire Equivia dei Forti - has been equipped with shelters for horses, tying rings, long lines, and drinking troughs.
The 16 km itinerary - created in collaboration with the Municipality of Verona, the Ministry of Tourism, and Veronafiere as part of the Smart Verona: UNESCO World Heritage City project - and mapped by ASD Horse Valley completes the existing circuit of the Equivia dei Forti, aimed at discovering the historical and scenic beauties of the city of Verona through slow tourism on horseback.
